Super performance by Brodie Chapman, who finished just one step away from the podium, taking fourth place in the ITT at the 2025 UCI Road World Championships in Kigali, Rwanda.
This was the opening event of the very first World Championships held in Africa, contested on a challenging 31.2-kilometer course.
Victory went to Switzerland’s Marlen Reusser, who finished 51 seconds ahead of Anna van der Breggen (silver medal) and 1’04” ahead of Demi Vollering (bronze medal), both from the Netherlands. In fourth place, as mentioned, was our Brodie Chapman, representing Australia, who crossed the line 1’20” behind the winner.
Brodie Chapman said: “I’m really proud of my performance. Finishing fourth behind such strong riders as Marlen Reusser, Anna van der Breggen, and Demi Vollering at a World Championship is something truly meaningful for me. It wasn’t easy to manage this effort and the competition was of the highest level, so I can be satisfied with this result and with all the work done to reach this event. Of course, it’s a bit disappointing not to make it onto the podium, but this only gives me even more hunger for the next races. I have to thank the Australian National Team and my team, UAE Team ADQ, because they have supported me in the training and preparation for the time trial since the beginning of the year. That has been really important and shows that we have worked well together. I will keep working hard and keep growing.”
