A day full of smiles and emotions for Lizzie Holden in what was the final race of her professional career.
The Tour of Guangxi Women’s WorldTour marked a true “last day of school” for the rider from the Isle of Man, after three seasons with UAE Team ADQ. She received heartfelt celebrations from the peloton at sign-on and before the start.
Unfortunately, both the team and the peloton faced some difficult days leading up to this final race of the year, as a stomach virus sidelined half of the bunch, including three of our riders. Only Lizzie Holden, Elynor Bäckstedt, and Dominika Włodarczyk were able to start.
The 108.5-kilometre race, held in Nanning, China, proved to be tough and selective, gradually turning into a race of attrition. Elynor Bäckstedt delivered a strong performance, staying with the leading group and, as part of the chase behind the two frontrunners, crossed the line in fifth place, closing our 2025 season on a positive note.
