UAE Development Team continues to invest in the next generation of cycling talent, adding another rising star from Spain to its roster. Celia Torres, 18 years old, has signed a contract for the 2026 season.
Born on 10 October 2007 and originally from Madrid, Torres delivered strong performances in the Junior Women’s category throughout 2025. She won a stage and the overall classification at the Volta Osona, claimed the time trial stage at the Vuelta Cantabria, finished third overall at Bizkaioloreak, a Nations Cup event, and placed fourth in the time trial at the Spanish National Championships.
Cycling runs deep in her family, as Torres explains – and so does her bond with the UAE team. “When I was very little, my parents would take my two brothers and me cycling almost every weekend, and I always loved it. When my brothers started racing, I would go watch them compete every weekend, and because I enjoyed the atmosphere so much, I couldn’t resist trying it myself. Now all three of us are part of the big UAE family. My older brother Pablo races for the men’s WorldTour team, and my twin brother Jaime will join Team Emirates Gen Z this year. And I will be part of the women’s Development Team.”
In January 2025, Torres had already taken part in a training camp with UAE Development Team, and she explains her choice: “I decided to continue my career with this team because I believe it’s an incredible opportunity that I don’t want to waste. I consider it one of the best international teams.”
A complete rider, Torres excels especially on climbs, which is why she particularly enjoys mountain-heavy races and uphill time trials. Looking ahead to next year, she says: “I will approach the new season with great enthusiasm and excitement. My main goals will be to learn as much as possible and earn my place for the future.”
Torres knows exactly where she wants to improve: “This is a great opportunity for me to learn and gain experience in higher-level races. I want to work hard to develop my technical skills and grow into a top-level athlete.”
Melissa Moncada, President of UAE Team ADQ, said: “Our goal is to identify the best young talents in world cycling, support their development, and eventually bring them into our WorldTour team – as has already happened in recent years with riders like Lara Gillespie, Paula Blasi and Federica Venturelli. Spanish rider Celia Torres is certainly a very promising talent. We believe in her potential and we’re excited to see her grow within our team.”
