UAE Team ADQ welcomes new Sports Director Dave Povall

UAE Team ADQ is pleased to announce the appointment of Dave Povall as Sports Director for the 2026 season. Originally from Newport, South Wales (UK), Povall brings more than fifteen years of experience in professional cycling, having worked as a Sports Director and Team Manager at UCI Continental level. Throughout his career he has led teams in international events and major UK races such as the Tour of Britain, achieving national medals and podium results.

His background also includes key roles in major events such as the Tour of Britain, Commonwealth Games and UCI World Championships, where he built strong relationships with organisers, sponsors, and governing bodies. His expertise combines race strategy, team leadership, and full operational management.

Explaining his decision to join UAE Team ADQ, Povall said: “The team’s ambition, professionalism, and commitment to developing women’s cycling really stood out. UAE Team ADQ has a culture of excellence and integrity – values I share – and I wanted to be part of an organisation where I can contribute to something meaningful, not just manage races.”

Looking ahead to his new role, he added: “I’m expecting a fast-moving, high-performance environment where everyone pulls in the same direction. I hope to contribute my experience in race strategy, team operations, and communication – supporting riders, staff, and partners with the steady, organised, positive approach I’m known for. I want to make the team’s job easier, improve the riders’ environment, and help deliver successful, well-executed race days – hopefully while having fun!”

Povall highlights calm, clear communication as one of his strongest qualities: “I can connect with people at all levels – riders, organisers, sponsors – and keep things running smoothly even when situations become chaotic. And… if humour counts as a quality, I try to bring that too.”

With Dave Povall joining its sporting structure, UAE Team ADQ continues to strengthen its technical staff and reinforce its long-term commitment to the growth of women’s cycling.
