Safiya Alsayegh claims the UAE National Road Race title, Zahra Hussain second once again

One week after securing an impressive double victory in the individual time trial, UAE Team ADQ riders delivered another outstanding performance in the Road Race of UAE National Championships.

Safiya Alsayegh claimed the win, securing her sixth national title and once again completing the double in both the time trial and road race. Another strong performance came from Zahra Hussain, who earned her second silver medal in just one week, once again finishing behind her teammate.

The race took place in the Emirate of Sharjah, in the city of Al Tillal, over a 54-kilometre course. The two UAE Team ADQ riders set a strong pace from the very beginning, launching a two-rider breakaway that quickly proved decisive. As the kilometres went by, their advantage over the rest of the field became unassailable.

Alsayegh and Hussain reached the final straight together, where they sprinted for victory. Safiya Alsayegh proved to be the fastest, crossing the line first ahead of her teammate.

After the race, winner Safiya Alsayegh said: “Blessed and thankful to God for giving me the strength to push for victory for the sixth time in a row. I am delighted that the hard work we have put in has enabled me to stand on the top step of this podium year after year. I am grateful to everyone and to my team who have believed in my abilities and supported me over the years. One of this year’s goals, with the double victory, has been achieved, and I am ready to conquer the next milestones of the season, in Europe and around the world.”

Zahra Hussain added: “I’m happy to be back racing at the National Championships, especially after missing last year due to an elbow injury. It’s great to see more and more girls at the start, which creates an even better atmosphere. I’m also pleased with today’s second place and congratulations to Safiya, who always has a very strong final sprint.”
