The Navarra Women’s Elite Classic proved to be another important learning opportunity for the young riders of UAE Development Team, who competed against top-level teams and riders in this prestigious 1.Pro race.
The race covered 133.4 kilometres, starting and finishing in Pamplona, on a demanding and selective course that made for an aggressive day of racing from the very beginning.
A breakaway animated much of the race, with Nadia Gontova (Liv AlUla Jayco) being the last rider to hold out at the front before being caught by a reduced group of favourites with just over three kilometres remaining.
Among the leading group was also our young Italian climber Giada Silo, who once again confirmed her strong form with a determined and mature performance against more experienced rivals.
The race was eventually decided in the final sprint, where British rider Cat Ferguson (Movistar Team) claimed victory for the second consecutive year.
Although Giada Silo finished just outside the top 10 in 15th position, her performance remains highly encouraging. At only 18 years old, she delivered another display of great character and potential against an elite international field.
