Later that evening, Karlijn Swinkels finished eighth in the road race at the Dutch National Championships, while young Fee Knaven of UAE Development Team, following her national time trial title, also confirmed her title as the national champion in the Women’s Under 23 category on the road.
Fee Knaven said: “It was a really tough race today and it was very hot again. I didn’t have any expectations for this race, as the course wasn’t really suited to my strengths. In the end, I managed to stay with a group that sprinted for first place in the U23 category and I’m really happy to have won. I wasn’t expecting it.”
In the space of a week, the riders from UAE Team ADQ and the UAE Development Team have clinched no fewer than 11 national titles – 7 in the Elite categories and 4 in the Under-23 categories – along with three silver medals and three bronze medals.
