A Surprising Road World Championship in Kigali

The Women’s Elite Road Race at the 2025 UCI Road World Championships in Kigali turned out to be full of surprises. Although the expected result did not arrive, our riders showed pride and determination, giving their best on the demanding Rwandan course. Elisa Longo Borghini was the best, finishing in 15th place.

The race unfolded over 164.6 challenging kilometers. It was a highly tactical affair, with the main favorites keeping the race under tight control and making it difficult for attacks to succeed. In the end, the day rewarded three riders who showed courage and took the risk to attack. Their bold move paid off, as they contested the medals.

Canada’s Magdeleine Vallieres emerged as the new World Champion, claiming the coveted rainbow jersey. New Zealand’s Niamh Fisher-Black secured the silver medal, while Spain’s Mavi García completed the podium with bronze.

Despite missing out on the front positions, the Italian team honored the race with a solid performance, proving once again their fighting spirit on the international stage.
