Spanish rider Mavi Garcia claimed second place today at the Kreiz Breizh Elites Féminin in France, a 134.2-kilometre race from Ploëzal to Callac.
A major protagonist throughout the finale, Garcia launched several attacks and eventually made it into the four-rider group that contested the victory. She finished second in the sprint, behind Loes Adegeest (Lidl-Trek). Sarah Van Dam (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) took third, with Magdeleine Vallieres (EF Education-Oatly) fourth.
UAE Team L’IMAD also placed two more riders in the top 10, with Karlijn Swinkels finishing sixth and Eleonora Gasparrini eighth.
After the breakaway of the day was brought back, the race came to life over the final five laps, with Mavi Garcia playing a leading role in the action. The Spanish rider first attacked together with another rider, before being caught by the group of favourites.
She then launched another attack on a climb, this time successfully splitting the race and creating the four-rider group that would ultimately fight for the victory.
UAE Team L’IMAD will be back in action on Saturday at the Classic Lorient Agglomération, the team’s next appointment in the UCI Women’s WorldTour calendar.
