Silvia Persico extends with UAE Team ADQ for three more years

Italian rider Silvia Persico has decided to continue her career for another three seasons with UAE Team ADQ. The 28-year-old from Bergamo has signed a contract extension until the end of the 2028 season.

Her journey with the team began three years ago and continues today, confirming Persico once again as one of the key figures in an ambitious project. Over the past three years, the Italian has claimed victories at the Brabantse Pijl and the Grand Prix de Morbihan, and twice finished on the overall podium at the UAE Tour Women. Her path has not been without challenges, as injuries and physical issues have affected her performances, particularly this year. Despite that, she still managed to collect podiums in Spain, at the UAE Tour Women, and secured an excellent fifth place at the Amstel Gold Race.

A determined and talented rider, Persico has also repeatedly demonstrated her ability to put herself fully at the service of her teammates. This year, her crucial support was fundamental in the victories of team leader Elisa Longo Borghini, for example at the UAE Tour and the Giro d’Italia Women. Persico’s efforts and aggressive racing style have left a strong impression on fans and have been decisive in many moments of the season.

Her commitment is reflected in her own words: “I’ve certainly faced many difficult moments over the past seasons, but the team has always supported me. This year, a fantastic group was created, and I’ve felt really good working with them. The arrival of a great champion like Elisa Longo Borghini made something special, a beautiful bond between us that goes beyond cycling. For all these reasons, I’ve decided to continue my journey with this team, because I truly believe we can keep building something important together in the years to come.”

Persico was instrumental in the team’s triumph at the Giro d’Italia Women. “That victory was the result of months of hard work and unity among us, which gave us even more determination and motivation for the future,” she added.

Looking ahead, Persico is clear about her ambitions: “I want to keep improving, to be an even more valuable support for a strong leader like Elisa, and on a personal level I would love to win again, especially in a really important race.”

UAE Team ADQ President Melissa Moncada commented: “Silvia Persico, with her commitment, dedication, positivity, and her great passion for this sport and for our team, is an essential part of our family. I strongly wanted her to remain with us because I believe our team will continue to need her spirit and her performances to grow and become even greater. From day one we believed in Silvia, and we will keep believing in her, confident that together we can achieve many more great results.”
