Milana Ushakova is the Ukrainian Under-23 Women’s Champion

Another impressive double was completed today by the talented Milana Ushakova. Two days after winning the Ukrainian Under 23 individual time trial title, the 18-year-old UAE Development Team rider added the national road race crown to complete a remarkable National Championships.

On the demanding 135-kilometre course in Turka, Ushakova once again showcased her outstanding potential by matching the pace of the Elite riders throughout the race. She crossed the finish line in an impressive third place overall and, as the first Under 23 rider, secured the Ukrainian Under 23 national road race title.

The result further confirms the young Ukrainian as one of the brightest prospects in her country’s cycling scene.

Milana Ushakova said: “It was a long and demanding race with plenty of climbing. I managed to stay with the lead group in the Elite race and match the pace of the strongest riders on every climb. That allowed me to win the Under 23 national title and finish third overall. I’m really happy and grateful to have won this championship. It also means I’ve qualified for both the UCI Road World Championships and the European Championships, which is a huge achievement for me.”
