It was a tense and crash-marred edition of the Ronde van Vlaanderen, with several incidents throughout the day – one of which involved Elisa Longo Borghini< After a heavy fall, the Italian champion was taken to hospital for medical checks and further evaluation.
Despite the difficult circumstances, our riders gave everything over the 168.9 km route from and to Oudenaarde.
In a true show of team spirit, Silvia Persico stopped to assist her teammate Longo Borghini immediately after the crash before rejoining the race. Sofia Bertizzolo delivered the team’s best result of the day, staying with the leading group for as long as possible and eventually finishing in the third group at the finish line.
Now it’s time to turn the page and focus on the challenges ahead.
