An aggessive Schwalbe Classic

The Australian squad returned to racing today at the Schwalbe Women’s One Day Classic on the streets of Adelaide. Sofia Bertizzolo sprinted to a 5th place, while Greta Marturano shone as a breakaway hero, securing both the QOM and Sprint Classifications.

The 90-kilometer race unfolded on a fast-paced urban circuit in the heart of Adelaide. Our riders adopted an aggressive strategy, staying active at the front of the peloton throughout the day. Greta Marturano launched a bold and determined attack, leading a long two-riders breakaway that was eventually reeled in during the closing kilometers. Her effort earned her crucial points to claim victory in both the Queen of the Mountain and Sprint competitions.

In the final stages, Polish champion Dominika Wlodarczyk made a last-ditch attempt to avoid a sprint finish, but her move was neutralized by the chasing group.

The race concluded with a fast sprint, where French rider Clara Copponi (Lidl-Trek) emerged victorious. Sofia Bertizzolo showcased her consistency with a solid 5th-place finish, capping off a day of teamwork.
