Another podium for Silvia Persico, who secured second place today at the Trofeo Binissalem-Andratx, the third and final race of the Challenge Mallorca Femenina.
After 107.5 kilometers from Binissalem to Port d’Andratx (Carrer Picasso), the Italian rider showcased her grit and determination, finishing an impressive second behind Thalita De Jong (Human Powered Health).
It was a successful day for the team as well: our riders were awarded the best team of the race, and Alena Ivanchenko received the prize for best young rider.
Silvia Persico was in the spotlight throughout the race, joining all the key attacks on the decisive climbs. In the final kilometers, the team executed a flawless strategy: Francesca Pellegrini provided support up to about 10 kilometers from the finish, while Alena Ivanchenko and Eleonora Gasparrini guided Silvia to the foot of the final climb.
Despite attacks by Cédrine Kerbaol (EF Education-Oatly) and Thalita De Jong, Silvia Persico maintained a steady pace and, in the last 50 meters, overtook Kerbaol to secure second place.
After the race, Silvia Persico said: “Today, my goal was to win again, but De Jong was incredibly strong. I’m still happy with this second place. I want to sincerely thank all my teammates, who gave 100% for me and showed great confidence in my abilities. I conclude this race with the awareness of a solid start to the season and optimism for the upcoming challenges.”
