Elisa Longo Borghini crossed the line in 9th place on Stage 6 of the Giro d’Italia Women, after an aggressive effort in the final part of the race. The UAE Team ADQ leader attempted an attack on the Maglia Rosa, but the stage offered few opportunities to make a decisive difference.
The 145 km stage from Bellaria-Igea Marina to Terre Roveresche (Orciano di Pesaro) featured multiple breakaway attempts, with UAE Team ADQ staying composed and attentive, riding together to support their team leader and control the race dynamics.
On a key uphill section, Longo Borghini launched an attack to test the legs of her rivals. Only the Maglia Rosa, Marlen Reusser, was able to respond immediately, and the two riders briefly chased down the breakaway duo together. However, the group eventually came back together.
At the front, it was Liane Lippert (Movistar Team) who took the stage win, outsprinting Pauliena Rooijakkers (Fenix-Deceuninck). A select group followed, and at 1:24 behind came the GC favorites, with Longo Borghini finishing 9th on the day.
In the overall standings, Longo Borghini retains her second place, trailing Reusser by just 16 seconds.
The team now looks ahead to the Queen Stage of the race – 150 km from Fermignano to the summit finish on Monte Nerone. A challenging day awaits, and UAE Team ADQ is ready to recharge and give everything on the climbs.
