Elisa Longo Borghini claimed second place in the overall standings of the Vuelta a Burgos Féminas, thanks to a strong performance in the fourth and final stage: a short but demanding individual time trial over 9.41 km from Villasana de Mena to Lezana de Mena.
The Italian national road champion posted the third-fastest time of the day, just 8 seconds behind stage winner Marlen Reusser (Movistar Team), who also sealed overall victory. Juliette Labous (FDJ – Suez) took second on the stage, finishing 6 seconds behind Reusser.
Longo Borghini’s performance secured her rise in the General Classification, ultimately taking a well-earned second place on the final podium of the Spanish race.
“It was a good time trial, and I held my own,” said Longo Borghini after the finish. “The goal was to move up to second in the GC, and I achieved that, so I’m satisfied. More broadly, these four days have been really productive for the team. We raced with cohesion and ambition, always staying active and creating race dynamics. Even when we didn’t win, we raced as protagonists, and those efforts led to today’s result.”
