Giro d’Italia Women, Stage 3: Longo Borghini 4th, Gasparrini 8th

Stage 3 of the Giro d’Italia Women ended with two UAE Team ADQ riders in the top 10: Elisa Longo Borghini claimed 4th place, while Eleonora Gasparrini crossed the line in 8th.

It was a challenging and nervous day on the road, marked by several crashes, but our riders stayed safe and managed the finale with confidence and precision. Elisa Longo Borghini continues to sit in 3rd place in the General Classification.

The 122-kilometre stage from Vezza d’Oglio to Trento featured an early ascent of the Passo del Tonale (KOM), followed by a long descent into the valley and towards the finish. Once the day’s lone breakaway rider was caught, the teams of the GC favourites took control.

UAE Team ADQ remained alert and active throughout, and avoided trouble even after a large crash split the peloton with just over a kilometre to go. Only Silvia Persico was involved, but fortunately, she escaped without serious consequences.

In the overall standings, Longo Borghini stays in 3rd place, 31 seconds behind the maglia rosa, Anna Henderson, and 18 seconds behind Switzerland’s Marlen Reusser, who is currently in second place.

Tomorrow, the peloton faces Stage 4: a 142-kilometre route from Castello Tesino to Pianezze (Valdobbiadene), featuring more elevation and a challenging finale.
