La Vuelta Femenina: Recap Stage 4

Today’s stage at La Vuelta Femenina was a medium mountain route, the fourth of the race, covering 111.6 km from Pedrola to Borja.

Just over 50 km from the finish, Erica Magnaldi launched the first attack, followed shortly after by teammate Maeva Squiban. Unfortunately, both attempts were neutralized by the peloton. Magnaldi later responded to another acceleration and remained in the lead group as long as she could.

The stage was won by Anna van der Breggen (Team SD Worx – Protime), who broke away from all her rivals in the final kilometers to take a solo victory. Behind her, Marianne Vos (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) won the sprint for second place ahead of Demi Vollering (FDJ – Suez). Femke Gerritse (Team SD Worx – Protime) retained the red leader’s jersey.

Erica Magnaldi finished in the second chase group. Tomorrow’s stage features more climbs and a demanding summit finish at Lagunas de Neila.

It’s also worth noting that Greta Marturano did not start this morning in Pedrola due to a seasonal illness that caused her discomfort overnight. We wish her a speedy recovery.
