Maeva Squiban Shines on Home Roads at the Tour de France Femmes

It was a challenging and relentless day on the roads of Brittany, with constant undulations and a fierce race tempo from start to finish in Stage 2, from Brest to Quimper (110.4 km). But UAE Team ADQ’s Maeva Squiban rose to the occasion on her home turf, proudly flying the team’s colours in an exciting breakaway that lit up the stage.

The French rider showed great determination by bridging across to a strong leading group and staying at the front for several kilometres. Her attacking spirit and courage were rewarded with the Most Combative Rider award of the day – a prestigious recognition that earned her a special moment on the podium of the Tour de France Femmes, celebrated with the warm applause of her home fans.

The support on the roadside was extraordinary, with massive crowds showing passionate love for cycling and cheering for one of their own. For Maeva, it was a day to remember – racing in front of her people, animating the stage, and stepping onto the podium of the Grande Boucle.

The stage was ultimately won with a solo move by Mavi García (Liv AlUla Jayco), who surprised her rivals with a strong late attack. Behind her, the sprint of the chasing group saw European Champion Lorena Wiebes (Team SD Worx – Protime) take second place, ahead of Kimberley (Le Court) Pienaar (AG Insurance – Soudal Team), who also became the new race leader in yellow.

UAE Team ADQ’s Dominika Wlodarczyk delivered a solid performance, finishing 11th on the day and confirming her good form.

Tomorrow, the peloton faces Stage 3 from La Gacilly to Angers over 163.5 km – another opportunity to show strength and teamwork in this prestigious race.
