Silvia Persico Claims Third Place at Trofeo Palma

The season kicked off with a podium finish for Silvia Persico, who secured an impressive third place at the Trofeo Palma.

It was a strong performance from the Italian rider and an excellent team effort by UAE Team ADQ, with Eleonora Gasparrini finishing in eighth place.

Young talent Francesca Pellegrini stood out by joining a breakaway of 14 riders that dominated much of the race. Once the breakaway was caught, the race was decided on the final two climbs. Persico made her mark with an attack on the first climb and stayed in the action on the second, thanks to the support of her teammates, particularly Alena Ivanchenko and Eleonora Gasparrini.

On the final climb, Marlen Reusser (Movistar Team) and Mavi Garcia (Spain) broke away, finishing first and second, respectively. Persico, in the chasing group, won a thrilling sprint for third place in a photo finish against Thalita De Jong (Human Powered Health).

After the race, Silvia Persico shared her thoughts: “I’m very happy with this third place and to start the season on the right note with a podium finish. I want to thank my teammates, who did an amazing job today, from Francesca Pellegrini in the breakaway to everyone who helped me in the finale. I’m pleased with how I felt today, and tomorrow is another opportunity to race and aim for a win.”

The team is ready to take on another challenge tomorrow.
