Sofia Bertizzolo Secures Top 5 in the GC at the Tour de Pologne Women

Sofia Bertizzolo claimed a spot in the Top 5 of the General Classification at the Tour de Pologne Women, which concluded today in Kraśnik. Both she and Amalia Debarges finished inside the Top 20 in the final stage.

The last of the three stages covered a distance of 128.2 kilometres, starting from Nałęczów and finishing in Kraśnik. With the standings still tight, the race promised plenty of action.

A two-rider breakaway dominated much of the stage, with the last rider in the move threatening the peloton and only being caught 500 metres from the finish. A strong lead-out from Canyon//SRAM zontacrypto set up Chiara Consonni for both the stage victory and the overall win.

Young French rider Amalia Debarges finished 18th, while Sofia Bertizzolo took 20th on the day. Their consistent performances over the three stages allowed Bertizzolo to secure 5th place overall in the final GC.

Earlier this morning, Polish rider Dominika Włodarczyk did not start the stage due to illness.
