Sofie van Rooijen finished eighth today in Belgium at the Dwars door de Westhoek, winning the sprint from the chasing group just seconds behind the race leaders.
At the finish line in Boezinge, it was Fleur Moors (Lidl-Trek) who claimed victory, outsprinting her breakaway companions after a late attack in the final kilometres.
Despite the efforts of Eilidh Shaw, Febe Jooris, and Alena Ivanchenko to close the gap, the peloton couldn’t bring the leaders back. After 127 kilometres of racing, van Rooijen had to settle for a sprint for the minor placings.
The team will have another opportunity to shine tomorrow at the GP Mazda Schelkens.
