Karlijn Swinkels claimed a strong 8th place today in Stage 2 of the Itzulia Women, after an intense and action-packed day of racing from Ugao-Miraballes to Igorre, covering a total of 116 kilometers.
It was a thrilling stage from start to finish, marked by relentless attacks, breakaways, counterattacks, and constant changes in rhythm. The race remained undecided until the very last kilometre, when the peloton – driven in large part by the efforts of UAE Team ADQ – caught the final trio of escapees just in time for the sprint.
For the second consecutive day, it was Dutch rider Mischa Bredewold (Team SD Worx – Protime) who powered to victory, ahead of Liane Lippert (Movistar Team) and Soraya Paladin (Canyon//SRAM Racing).
Swinkels crossed the line in 8th place, capping off a solid performance from the team on a demanding day in the Basque Country.
