Sofie van Rooijen made her return to competition today with her UAE Development Team teammates, claiming a 10th place at the Ronde de Mouscron after a hectic bunch sprint.
Lining up alongside the U23 European champion were Febe Jooris, Fee Knaven, Amalia Debarges, and Eilidh Shaw.
The race featured 125 kilometers over five laps of a fast, circuit-based course. Several breakaway attempts were made throughout the day, but none were able to gain a decisive gap.
The race was marred by a number of crashes, including one involving our French rider Amalia Debarges, who was unfortunately forced to abandon. Another crash in the final disrupted the sprint preparation and split the group.
Still, Sofie van Rooijen managed to fight her way into the top 10, showing promising form in her comeback.
Victory went to Norway’s Susanne Andersen (Uno-X Mobility), with Marthe Truyen (Fenix-Deceuninck) second and Sarah Van Dam (Ceratizid Pro Cycling Team) in third.
