Tough Day at Liège-Bastogne-Liège Femmes for UAE Team ADQ

It was not the Liège–Bastogne–Liège Femmes we had hoped for, but this too is part of cycling.
Despite a challenging day, Erica Magnaldi showed great determination, staying with the lead group for as long as possible before finishing inside the top 20. A solid effort on such a demanding course.

Unfortunately, our team leader Elisa Longo Borghini faced a difficult day, not feeling at her best. On the decisive climb of La Redoute, she was unable to match the pace of the front riders and eventually lost contact with the lead group.

Earlier in the race, before the climb of La Redoute, Maeva Squiban launched a courageous solo attack, staying in the lead for several kilometers and animating the race.

It was another unlucky day for Silvia Persico, who crashed after around 9 kilometers from the start and was forced to abandon the race. She was taken to hospital where a fracture to the radius was diagnosed. The full extent of the injury will be assessed in the coming days. We wish Silvia a speedy and full recovery.

The race was won by Kimberley Pienaar (Le Court) from the AG Insurance – Soudal Team. Congratulations to her on a strong performance.

We will take the lessons from today and come back stronger.
