UAE Team ADQ was in action today at the Simac Omloop der Kempen Ladies, a 121.8 km race starting and finishing in Veldhoven, in the Netherlands.
The race unfolded at a steady pace in the early stages, with the peloton staying compact until the final 30 kilometers. At that point, a solo attack was launched, followed by a chase from two other riders. With 20 km to go, the peloton had reduced the gap to just 20 seconds, appearing ready to bring the breakaway back.
However, the group unexpectedly slowed down, allowing the gap to stretch back out to 50 seconds with 15 km remaining. Sensing the danger, UAE Team ADQ took control of the chase and closed the gap within a few kilometers. Just as it seemed the breakaway would be neutralized, the peloton lost momentum once again, opening the door for a late attack.
Seizing the opportunity, April Tacey (Team Coop – Repsol) and Helena Bieber (Carbonbike Giordana by Gen Z) broke clear. Despite a late effort by the bunch, the chase came just too late. April Tacey held off the charging peloton to claim victory.
In the final sprint, Nienke Veenhoven (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) took second place by winning the bunch sprint. Tereza Neumanova and Sofie van Rooijen were the top finishers for UAE Team ADQ, crossing the line in 15th and 16th position, respectively.
