Mikayla is a strong all-rounder cyclist and faced adversity with the right mindset. In 2022, she ranked herself in the Top 10 classification of the Festival Elsy Jacobs in Luxembourg. In 2021, she won the youth classification at the Tour de Suisse Women and was also the best young rider at the Giro 2020. Previously, she won both Oceania ITT champion and New Zealand national ITT champion among the Under-23 Women and the Junior category. She began studies in Sport Sciences. She would like to continue in this area of study one day. However, her dream job after cycling is to run a pilates studio that focuses on wellbeing and sport performance. Aside from cycling she enjoy outdoor adventures and hiking with friends and family. She also like yoga, pilates and getting crafty/art.
