At the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Ballerup, Denmark, Italy's Chiara Consonni captured the bronze medal in the Team Pursuit, adding another prestigious accolade to her growing collection. The Olympic champion, who claimed gold in the Madison at the Paris 2024 Games, led the Italian squad with a standout performance.
The 'Azzurri' team, featuring Consonni, Martina Fidanza (who stepped in for Letizia Paternoster), Martina Alzini, and Vittoria Guazzini, clinched the bronze by decisively beating Canada in the final, catching them after just 2,625 meters. This impressive result highlighted the team’s strength and cohesion in one of track cycling's most thrilling events.
The world title went to Great Britain, who secured gold by overtaking Germany after 3,350 meters, reaffirming their dominance in women's Team Pursuit.
Ireland's Lara Gillespie finished fifth in the Elimination Race.
