Eleonora Gasparrini is the Italian Under-23 Women's Champion. It was a very demanding race, well managed by our riders. 130 km race between Florence and Scarperia.

Solo victory for Elisa Longo Borghini of Lidl-Trek. In the sprint for the podium, second place for Chiara Consonni, competing with the Gs Fiamme Azzurre jersey, and third place for Eleonora Gasparrini, who won the Under-23 title.

Three UAE Team ADQ athletes were in the race: Silvia Persico, Erica Magnaldi and Eleonora Gasaprrini, plus Chiara Consonni, who was, however, wearing the jersey of her military group on this occasion. Good work also by the young athletes of the UAE Development Team.

The girls were always in the thick of the action. In the final attack by Longo Borghini. Gasparrini tried to get back on her wheel, but did not make it.

In the end in the sprint of the first chasing group Consonni and Gasparrini shared the remaining two podium positions.

These are the words of Eleonora Gasparrini: “We kept the race under control, trying to keep it closed in the first part. There were some attempts to attack, but with my teammates we were always very careful. In the finale Longo Borghini went on the attack, I tried to follow her, but I couldn't do it. Then there was more great work by my teammates and I played my cards right in the sprint. I finished third overall and won the Under-23 Italian champion's jersey. We achieved our goals and so I am very happy. I have to thank the whole team for that because they were all amazing”.
