A demanding route, great heat and a spectacular finish in the historic centre. Erica Magnaldi tried to go on the attack, but was caught.
Silvia Persico finished in the pink jersey group and finished in 11th place. Positive signs for the coming days.
The stage was won with an extraordinary solo action by Clara Emond (EF Education-Cannondale), while Elisa Longo Borghini (Lidl-Trek) keeps the pink jersey.
