Sprint finish in the fifth stage of the Giro d'Italia Women, 108 km from Frontone to Foligno. Chiara Consonni finished in second place.

Great work by UAE Team ADQ, with the work first of Erica Magnaldi and Lizzie Holden, then of Alena Amiliusik, Dominika Wlodarczyk, Silvia Persico and Eleonora Gasparrini. In the final meters the train was a bit closed, and Consonni tried to get back on the wheel of world champion Lotte Kopecky, but this time it was too late. It remains, however, a positive day for the whole team.

Chiara Consonni said after the finish line, "Today we started with the plan to make a good sprint to try to win another stage. My teammates still did a great job, as always, we tried, but today SD Worx's lead out was better so we have to congratulate them that they won." 

Tomorrow the sixth stage, the longest of the Giro 2024, from San Benedetto del Tronto to Chieti for 159 km.
