Mavi Garcia Confirmed As ITT Spanish Champion.Medals Also In Slovenia And Switzerland For UAE Team ADQ
One year on, Mavi Garcia was confirmed as champion of Spain in the women's elite individual time trial.
In her native Majorca, in Cala Millor, the Spanish rider of UAE Team ADQ was the strongest over the 21.6 km (more than 230 metres of altitude difference), with a time of 29'57" at an average speed of 43.272 km/h.
She was 52 seconds behind Sheyla Gutierrez of Movistar Team and Sandra Alonso of Ceratizit-WNT Pro Cycling. For Mavi Garcia this was the fourth national time trial title of her career, the third in a row, and the second victory of her season in the UAE Team ADQ jersey.
These are the words of Mavi Garcia after the victory: "Today I felt very good and even when I was cycling I felt very calm because I could see that everything was going according to plan. Although I must admit that the approach to the race was not at all easy, with a series of problems that happened to the bike and a wheel and that until the last second before the start didn’t allow me to have the bike in place. But all's well that ends well and I’m very happy to have won again”.
Valuable medals had already come yesterday from other riders in the team. In the ITT in Slovenia silver medal for Eugenia Bujak and bronze medal for Ursa Pintar. Linda Zanetti took the bronze medal in the ITT of the Swiss Under-23 Women's Championship. Seventh place for Maaike Boogard in the ITT of the top-level at Dutch National Championships.
Tomorrow, Mavi Garcia will again compete for the Spanish road title. Maaike Boogaard will also race tomorrow in the Netherlands, while on Sunday, 26th June, our girls will compete in the National Championships in Italy, Slovenia and Switzerland.
