UAE Team ADQ delivered a remarkable performance today at the Tre Valli Varesine Women's Race. Despite the race being shortened to 111 km due to adverse weather conditions, the team remained aggressive throughout, culminating in Silvia Persico's impressive second-place finish, Eleonora Gasparrini's fourth, and Erica Magnaldi securing ninth.
Starting in Busto Arsizio and finishing in Varese, the race was impacted early on by persistent bad weather. This forced the organizers to reduce the distance and cancel the team presentation. Silvia Persico was particularly active, launching herself into several breakaway attempts. Her pivotal move came on the final lap when she broke away with France’s Cedrine Kerbaol (Ceratizit-WNT). The pair worked well together until the final climb, where Kerbaol made a decisive surge, leaving Persico behind.
Kerbaol pushed on solo to claim victory. Meanwhile, from the chasing group, Liane Lippert (Movistar) closed in on Persico, but the UAE Team ADQ rider held off Lippert in a sprint to secure second place.
Eleonora Gasparrini finished strongly in fourth, winning the sprint of the chasing group. Erica Magnaldi also put in a solid effort, finishing ninth in the same group.
After the race, Silvia Persico shared her thoughts: “Today I felt really good, and I’m happy because it’s been a long time since I had such positive sensations. I joined the first breakaway, but we were caught before the final lap. Then I attacked again with Kerbaol on the descent, and we broke away together. Unfortunately, on the last climb, I was at my limit, and when she accelerated, I couldn’t stay with her. When Lippert arrived, I immediately jumped on her wheel and managed to secure this important second place. This was my last road race of the season, and I’ll wrap up my year next Sunday at the Gravel European Championships in Asiago”.
