There was another day to remember for UAE Development Team fans at the Road European Championships U23 in Drenthe, Netherlands. Once again Linda Zanetti proved to be a very talented athlete as she was able to win a bronze medal on a route that was not suited to her characteristics. 

That is why this third place is worth more than the many victories that Linda achieved, also because the level of the opponents was higher and because once again the Swiss showed that she is an athlete capable of raising her level when the races become more important. 

Linda Zanetti was not only strong but also smart. The speed of the race was low in the first kilometers, then the peloton accelerated and there were many attacks. The first breakaway was favorite Zoe Bäckstedt who attacked in the fourth of the final five laps. 
But the peloton reacted and came back together. 
In the last kilometers Pluimers, Masetti, Kopecky, Schreiber, Shackley and Linda Zanetti went into the breakaway: it was the winning move.
